The objective of the assignment is to demonstrate that you have a reasonable command of the leadership subject matter and can see its impact in a real-world setting. You need to provide sufficient explanation and documentation to support the points you are making. Using the Davenport University Library resources and reputable websites, research the life and leadership challenges faced by the ‘Famous Leader’ that you have chosen for this assignment. Famous Leaders can be current or former business, political or religious. They should be leaders that would be familiar to MBA students. Famous Leaders are to be pre-approved by the professor. After finding sufficient biographical information thoroughly read and understand your leader’s background. At a minimum, the content of your paper should: Summarize the leader’s “life story” in two to three paragraphs. Remember this is a business paper, you are not writing a biography on your Famous Leader. Integrate and apply leadership theory (traits, behaviors, power, negotiation techniques, etc.) from the readings. Describe one (or more, as appropriate) significant ‘leadership challenges’ that leader faced. Discuss how he/she led their organization to overcome the challenge(s). Explain “why” the outcome was important. Finally, conclude with a paragraph or two stating what leadership lessons can be learned. Note: Your paper should be approximately 10 pages, plus a title page, abstract, and reference page. Headers should be used to clearly identify each section of your paper. APA format is required.
